Riley Gene (they/them) is a London-based theatre-maker working across acting, directing, playwriting, producing, and arts consultancy in both the UK and US. A three-time Gregory Award–nominated performer and Broadway World–nominated director, Riley has collaborated with leading companies including the Seattle Rep, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Washington Ensemble Theatre, ArtsWest, and Book-It Repertory Theatre.
They are the Producing Artistic Director of 14/48 London, part of the international network of the world’s quickest theatre festival, and a consultant with Scandiuzzi Krebs, advising arts organizations in Seattle, London, and Berlin on business strategy and organizational growth. As a playwright, their work has been developed with Sound Theatre Company and Foundry10, most recently The House Devours at Fall Fest 2024.
Riley’s practice champions new, risk-taking work and trusts audiences to engage deeply rather than be spoon-fed. They believe theatre should challenge and activate, calling both artists and audiences toward introspection, critical thought, and shared responsibility. Guided by a commitment to accessibility, equity, and authentic joy, Riley builds collaborative rooms where diverse voices are not only welcomed but essential to shaping the art and the communities it touches.
